NaNoWriMo Day 8 Stats

I wrote a record 5,236 words today, which is more than twice my daily average. Giving myself that push was helpful. 2,800 of the words were written in the cafe but I had to leave because it was too cold there. It felt like they had the AC on and I had no idea why since it was generally a cold day here in L.A.

I will start Chapter 10 tomorrow so I'm finished writing for the day. I will definitely reach my goal of 22K by the end of tomorrow. I'd like to reach 30K by the end of Monday evening. We'll see if that happens.

This novel is going to be more than 50K, which is totally fine. My goal was to use NaNo to push me to get all the words out. This helps me discover elements of the story I didn't know and never would have known if I hadn't allowed myself to write with abandon. I found out in writing today that my main character's grandmother is hiding a big lie. Now, I know what that lie is but my main character doesn't know it yet. The scene where my main character finds all of this out isn't coming up tomorrow but it's on the horizon.
