I slept until 3 P.M. today--I haven't done that since I was a teen! I guess I was really tired. I've been spending a lot of time thinking about the Book Expo of America '08 at the Los Angeles Convention Center. One thing, I'm so grateful to
edithspage for suggesting we all go. I learned a lot at the expo.
I was completely humbled by the number of published writers whose advanced reading copies were made available to attendees. There are just so many great looking books coming out soon. It was interesting to see how different publishers market their newly published and seasoned writers to the public audience at the convention.
Being among so many writers and publishers made me feel so...grateful. I feel like while writing is a solitary act (for most of us), there is this connection to a larger community. I'm inspired. I'm challenged. I'm humbled. I'm hopeful.
Overall, it was a stimulating day. I've got reading material to last me a whole year (if not more)!
