The Sci Fi Channel will soon be the Syfy Channel.

Studio Heads: "Excuse me while I ask someone else to the prom."

Limo rolls. Eggshell cracks on face. Maniacal laughter echoes in the distance.

The Syfy Channel will essentially shun its CORE audience to court a new demographic of viewers: people who find "sci fi" geeky, reality TV enlightening, and books a relic of the past.

What, ideally, was so great about a Sci Fi Channel was that a broadcast valued the medium of fiction, the written word and the ideas and characters that writers created in a marriage to the visual and audio of television and film.

Without the FICTION "Fi", you've got nothing but "Syfy" or a made up term that is shallow in meaning. I don't like how literature is buried and resurrected at whim.

Don't get me wrong--I support change. When I first heard the term spec fic, I was intrigued. Not offended. Not afraid.

Syfy? Well, phonetically, it works but what about CONTENT wise? What's the meaning of it all? How will attracting new viewers with this made-up term support the fiction, the LITERATURE = (TRUEness) that gives birth to the television and movies that the Syfy Channel will produce?

It's all just bullshit and offensive to all writers.

It really helped to get out of the house and write at the library. Afterwards, I headed to Starbucks and ended up getting free coffee! I'm a little wired now. I don't know if it's the coffee or if I'm just excited to see my boys Bill and Sam get into trouble. Only 15 minutes now!

I really should be writing but football (or basketball) is difficult to resist. *Sigh* Okay, I'm making a deal with myself--I can watch the current Giants/Cowboys game through halftime and then I'll head to the library and write until 5:45 p.m., which will have me home in time for True Blood.

I'm a bad Wrimo. It's only the second day and already I'm having trouble managing my time. It shouldn't be difficult once I get started though. I purposely stopped near the beginning of my next scene so I wouldn't waste time today.

FUMBLE!!!! gotta go!

I enjoy this show, so very much. I haven't missed an episode since its debut. I've read Twilight (only the first book; not the others) and I will never get Stephen King's Salem's Lot out of my mind--EVER (so scary good). Actually, I enjoyed both books, very much! They're the only vampire stories I've ever read (oh, I watched "Interview with a Vampire" but never read the actual book).

Admittedly, I don't bring a lot of knowledge about the vampire canon. But oh how I love this show! The characters are broken and real. They make dumb mistakes and say insightful things; they are greedy and giving and I love how the desires of the characters collide. I must get my hands on the books by Charlaine Harris!

I'm so glad the show has been renewed for a second season. I hope that it continues to feature great characters with great writing that keep me on the edge of my seat 'til the next Sunday.

I am counting down the hours to the season finale, starting NOW.

Until then, I will see if I can get lost in my work to distract my attention from the clock.

Tic toc...tic toc. Can I go home yet?! Is it time yet?

I really do heart LOST but can someone please explain the following two things for me:

In tonight's episode, we see the Oceanic 6 at a press conference. Why the hell wasn't Kate hauled off in handcuffs? Does she suddenly get a pardon because she's been lost at sea for 100 days?!

Also, why does ANYONE trust Ben? I thought John was smarter than that. Apparently not. Also, why is that guy who has been courting him since he was a youngling suddenly show up at the island?!

I'm jus' sayin'.

I love this show but I must say that I was very disappointed tonight. I think Chris had some innovative ideas in his final three looks. I'm sad I won't get to see the full collection. I can't help but wonder if PETA officials watched the show tonight. HUMAN HAIR FOR CLOTHING?! Talk about turning the fur industry on its head...

Chris has inspired me. He called his collection something like glam goth but I think it was very forward...futuristic even.

So BOOOO on those judges!!! I guess I'll have to pull for Jillian now.
