It is a cold, gray and dreary day here in Los Angeles. I don't care what the thermostat says, in this library where I work, the air condition will ALWAYS come on when you least expect it. I'm sitting here shivering at my desk, waiting for my 1:00 p.m. lunch hour so I can start editing some of the chapters from my current YA manuscript.
Things here at the library job are so boring that I find my thoughts drift to the upcoming Book Expo of America at the Los Angeles Convention Center. I'm looking forward to the Children's Breakfast, taking pictures of authors and friends (
edithspage,
marivee, and Carlynn) and overall having an inspiring good time.
I'm also looking forward to SCBWI's Annual Summer Conference but that's a ways away. I'm still trying to decide if I should get a room. It would be kinda cool to decompress and have my own little writer's retreat for a couple of days. I could type out my notes right away. Then again, I don't live very far from the hotel near the airport. All I'd need to do is hit the 105 from the 110 and park it. I have a feeling this conference will feel a little overwhelming. It sounds as if LOTS of people attend and I can sometimes freak out when I'm around large groups of people.
Either way, it will sure be an adventure...like my lunch hour, starting now.
Update: So I was able to edit several more pages in book #2 but there's a lot more I need to write by Thursday. I'm not ashamed to admit that I'm going to watch The Bachelor finale tonight. I can write before and after that and stay up as late as I need to since I work the noon to 9 p.m. shift tomorrow.
