I just finished Day 2 of the Fifteen Minute July challenge. I have to say that it's working out quite well. My work break was exactly a quarter of an hour so I felt as if I raced against the clock. I didn't stop writing and that forced me to ignore the critic in my head. Now I've got another 2 pages.
Also, I like what Laurie Halse Anderson says, "You don't even have to write anything coherent. No one will judge the quality of your work right now, or condemn you for starting today instead of yesterday. Just write. 15 minutes. You can do this."
I'm enjoying writing this way, though today felt like I struggled more than yesterday. Still, it feels less intimidating to write on paper than to sit in front of a blank computer screen.
Today is my last day of work for the week. I'm off Thursday-Sunday for 4 glorious days. I see more uninterrupted writing time in my immediate future.
