A high school friend posted this concert clip on her page. I love me some Erykah Badu, lawd ha'mercy! Next to Tori, she is my second favorite vocalist. Saw her in a New Years concert ('07) and she did NOT disappoint.

Thought I'd pass the clip along for some afternoon inspiration.

I was given a gift of muses when I left my job at the library. One of the teachers made her good-bye gift more of a good luck gift.

She must have found this somewhere at a teaching supply store:


That's Shakespeare, Tolstoy, Dickens, and Woolf. They're finger puppets AND magnets so now they hang to my right.



Before I had this though, I've been drawing on the music of Tori Amos as inspiration since I was a teen. About 5-6 years ago, my mother had one of my favorite posters framed as a birthday gift. It now sits on the wall above where I write along with all my Tori concert ticket stubs. It's nice to have her smiling over me:



Finally, NO space would be complete without inspiration from the goddess herself, Octavia Estelle Butler. This was given to me as a framed gift when I turned 29 and I keep it right next to my keyboard:
