I was given a gift of muses when I left my job at the library. One of the teachers made her good-bye gift more of a good luck gift.

She must have found this somewhere at a teaching supply store:

That's Shakespeare, Tolstoy, Dickens, and Woolf. They're finger puppets AND magnets so now they hang to my right.

Before I had this though, I've been drawing on the music of Tori Amos as inspiration since I was a teen. About 5-6 years ago, my mother had one of my favorite posters framed as a birthday gift. It now sits on the wall above where I write along with all my Tori concert ticket stubs. It's nice to have her smiling over me:

Finally, NO space would be complete without inspiration from the goddess herself, Octavia Estelle Butler. This was given to me as a framed gift when I turned 29 and I keep it right next to my keyboard:

So there you have it--my muses! I'm going to get back to writing now but I'm curious...who are your muses and what does your writing space look like? Don't make me tag you!!!! :)

Ohhh, I *heart* your Tori and Octavia posters. And I envy you for all your Tori ticket stubs! I've only seen her live once.

I love Tori. I try to get to her concerts whenever she's around. I missed last December because I was sick but hopefully she'll come out with something new next year and start up another tour. Have you bought her new comic book? I checked it out at my local Barnes & Noble--that thing is massive! It's not a comic book or a graphic novel--it's like, big enough to be a coffee table book!

My muse is named "Maggie" (when she's being nice, "Margaret," "Old Moggy" and "That !@#$%^&* Harridan" when she's not).

Oh, you mean REAL muses... well, that leaves me and my imaginary personification of inspirational insanity out, then. ;-)

that leaves me and my imaginary personification of inspirational insanity out, then. ;-) Not at all! I had my palm read by a woman once and she told me that I have 3 muses over me but I have yet to communicate with them. She even told me to ask them to reveal themselves each night before I fall asleep. I think I saw one of them once in a dream but...they're really sneaky--that or either that palm reading lady was pulling my leg. LOL!
