I was given a gift of muses when I left my job at the library. One of the teachers made her good-bye gift more of a good luck gift.

She must have found this somewhere at a teaching supply store:

That's Shakespeare, Tolstoy, Dickens, and Woolf. They're finger puppets AND magnets so now they hang to my right.

Before I had this though, I've been drawing on the music of Tori Amos as inspiration since I was a teen. About 5-6 years ago, my mother had one of my favorite posters framed as a birthday gift. It now sits on the wall above where I write along with all my Tori concert ticket stubs. It's nice to have her smiling over me:

Finally, NO space would be complete without inspiration from the goddess herself, Octavia Estelle Butler. This was given to me as a framed gift when I turned 29 and I keep it right next to my keyboard:

So there you have it--my muses! I'm going to get back to writing now but I'm curious...who are your muses and what does your writing space look like? Don't make me tag you!!!! :)

Yesterday, I wrote a 3K+ chapter in one day (unusual for me). I wondered if I could do the same thing today. Close...I came so close. The word count is less but I finished another new chapter. I stopped right where it felt like a natural break so the word count will stay until I have to revise before submitting it to my writing group.

I've got many, MANY more scenes to write but each one I complete brings me closer. That's a good feeling, ya know, to feel close with the characters, invested in their lives, and excited about where they'll take me next.

Writing--creating, period--is the best high! I may do some writing again tonight because I've got an interview tomorrow at 11:30 a.m., which means I won't have time to myself in morning until I get home in the afternoon.

For now, I've got another 2,722 words written to add to yesterday's total. Onward I go! Fiyah!
