Postcards

In the mail today, I received another Postcard from Hell. While they've all been great, "Satan's Typist", the story that came in the mail today, is one of my favorites. The ending hit me. I thought I got it but another revelation snuck in and was an even bigger jolt than the first. I love it when stories do that.

I'm definitely done for the day. Tonight, I'm going go-cart racing with some friends and out to watch Denzel Washington's new film, "American Gangster" so there will be no more writing today, thus the early post. All I want to do for the rest of the afternoon and evening is relax and clear my mind.

Today's work did not come as easy as yesterday's chapter. I suspect that part of it has to do with not having a good night's sleep. I didn't have to go to work today and I originally thought that I would write for five-eight hours straight. Instead, I found myself procrastinating during the morning and when I finally sat down to write, the first page and a half were painful to get through. After that, I got into a rhythm and came to a break that felt right for chapter 2. I won't push it more than that since I am doing well with the words a day so far.
